Grants-making

Grants are funds disbursed by one party (Grant Makers), often a Government Department, Corporation, Foundation or Trust, to a recipient, often (but not always) a non-profit entity, educational institution, business or an individual. In order to receive a grant, some form of "Grant Writing" often referred to as either a proposal or an application is usually required.  Most grants are made to fund a specific project and require some level of compliance and reporting. The Grant Writing process involves an applicant submitting a proposal (or submission) to a potential funder, either on the applicant's own initiative or in response to a Request for Proposal from the funder. Other grants can be given to individuals, such as victims of natural disasters or individuals such as people who seek to open a small business.

We will encourage individuals and organisations to consider using our second-tier charity to distribute grants for the good causes that they support in the society. We will also continue to lobby the government to consider investing some resources in the sector the way they have supported the:

the Textile Industry - http://www.businesstimesafrica.net
the Entertainment Industry - http://www.enownow.com/news/story.php?sno=8247 in the last few years. We will also support and entrench the idea of Commissioning and Contracting across the three tiers of government in Nigeria in a transparent and competitive manner.

If your organisation already gives out grants but you have not developed a robust grant-making system or you would need our advice or technical input to develop your grants process, please contact us by filling out the form below. We can also assist you to train your grants recipients on Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting.
