Fundraising is the process of soliciting and gathering voluntary contributions such as money or other resources, by requesting donations from individuals, businesses, charitable foundations, or governmental agencies.  It is sometimes used to refer to the identification and solicitation of investors or other sources of capital for not-for-profit enterprises. Traditionally, fundraising consisted mostly of asking for donations on the street or at people's doors, and this is experiencing very strong growth in the form of face-to-face fundraising, but new forms of fundraising such as online fundraising have emerged in recent years, though these are often based on older methods such as grassroots fundraising.

CADFA will introduce other streams of fundraising into the country such as: Direct Donor Marketing, Legacies, Major Donors, Foundation, Government Grants from Local Government to the Federal Government, International Philanthropies, Commissioning and Contracting, Social Enterprises, etc. The bottom line is to make a culture shift for all our partner organisations to start to diversify their revenue base and to explore other sources of funding. Particularly, we shall, commencing from 2012 hold an Annual Fundraising and Awareness Campaign and to create visibility for the Charity Sector in Nigeria through the Charity Week in the Month of October. This will be our annual mass mobilization and fundraising event. We shall distribute the proceeds of our campaign to organisation who meet our criteria for funding through a competitive and transparent process after meeting our cost and ring-fencing a percentage of the proceeds to cover our management cost.
